Man United celebrated the 60th anniversary of the tragedy in Munich
Memorial services took place in Manchester, Munich and Belgrade on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the tragedy in Munich, which killed 23 people, including eight Manchester United players. Former US manager Sir Alex Ferguson, the current Jose Mourinho and Captain Michael Carrico recalled the victims of the plane crash and laid wreaths in front of the Old Trafford Memorial. February 6, 1958 is the most tragic day in the history of Manchester United. The charter, carrying the Red Devils, returning from the Serbian capital Belgrade, landed in Munich to replenish fuel but pushed into the wall surrounding the airport and crashed when it landed. 23 of the 43 passengers on board are dying, and there are eight United States players among them.
