Detroit Lions safety Brian Branch apologized for his behavior during the NFL`s ninth-round regular-season game against the Green Bay Packers.
In the second quarter of the game, Branch was ejected from the field for an illegal hit on Packers wide receiver Beau Melton. As he retreated to the bleachers, the Lions quarterback showed his middle finger to the stands.
I wouldn`t want people to associate me with such an act. It was emotional and I apologize to everyone who witnessed it. It won`t happen again, " Branch said.
Branch also agreed with the referee`s decision to eject him, although he noted that he did not want to hit Melton helmet-to-helmet.
