Lawson said the words about McLaren were taken out of context. RB driver Liam Lawson admitted that dissatisfaction with McLaren`s British identity was more of a joke.
Earlier, Lawson called the British anthem nonsense after McLaren`s victories and said that he considered the team to be New Zealand.
I guess I`m still learning these things in Formula 1. Words are taken out of context. Ironic, I actually laughed when I talked about this on the podcast. This is more of a joke, but, of course, it was taken very literally.
Of course I`m proud to be a New Zealander, proud of our motorsport history. Bruce McLaren is an absolute icon for New Zealand motorsport, someone I looked up to and learned a lot about in my youth.
